Anum Arshad, Partner

Anum is a partner at Gokal Law Group who brings both strategic clarity and emotional intelligence to her practice. She focuses on complex, high-stakes trust and estate matters involving undue influence, breach of fiduciary duty, and competing claims to estates — with a distinctive gift for distilling complexity into compelling arguments that capture the heart of the matter. She understands that trust and probate disputes are not just legal contests —  they are deeply human ones — and she crafts her advocacy accordingly.

Anum brings particular attentiveness to matters involving elders and elder financial abuse. Shaped by a close multigenerational upbringing, she brings both lived understanding and genuine empathy to cases where an elder’s wellbeing, autonomy, or legacy is at stake.

Clients turn to Anum during some of the most emotionally charged moments of their lives. She meets them with a steady, empathetic presence — keeping them closely informed and genuinely heard — while advancing their position with precision and purpose. She is proud to do this work at a firm that embraces collaboration, drawing on the collective strengths of its attorneys to pursue the best possible outcome for every client.

Her results reflect that commitment. Anum has secured the suspension of trustees and agents in high-stakes elder financial abuse matters — including disputes involving multi-million dollar trusts — and has resolved contentious family disputes within months of filing. She has also defended trustees, preserving their roles against allegations of misconduct, and has defeated challenges to trust amendments, strategically resolving those matters in a manner that protected the trustee’s authority and allowed for administration and distribution under the trust.

Her courtroom instincts were forged early: before transitioning to trust litigation, Anum took her very first complaint — a product liability case against Tesla — all the way to trial, delivering the closing argument. The experience sharpened her ability to think strategically under pressure and reinforced her belief in the power of a well-told story — an approach she brings to every matter, whether resolved at the negotiating table or before a judge.

Anum earned her J.D. from Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law, where she served as an Academic Fellow for Evidence, received the CALI Award for the highest grade in Securities Regulation, and was Production Editor of the Nexus Journal of Law and Policy.

Beyond her practice, Anum is an active leader in the Southern California legal community. She is the 2026 Chair-Elect of the Orange County Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates Section, and will rise to Chair in 2027.

A Southern California native, she finds balance through Pilates, photography, and exploring California’s scenic landscapes — always on the lookout for a new creative outlet.
