Understanding California Probate Fees
The California Probate Code poses a statutory fee to pay probate attorneys and executors for estate administration. Our California probate fee calculator helps you estimate this fee. Furthermore, the attorney and executor may ask for and be granted an amount above this standard fee, if additional services are carried out. These fees are only calculated on the value of property that falls under the probate administration umbrella. Such property generally includes the gross value of owned real estate, business interests, bank accounts, investments, and any personal property. Any retirement accounts, life insurance, and assets within a living trust typically aren’t subject to probate administration.
Use our probate fee calculator to estimate your potential probate attorney fees and executor commissions for estate administration valued over $0, but under $25,000,000. For amounts that exceed $25,000,000, the court will determine a reasonable amount.
