Have You Been In a Motorcycle Accident? Here’s What to Do.

Over the last few months, many motorcycle riders have taken to the beautiful California backroads to get out of the city and clear their heads. Other riders are taking advantage of the empty streets and highways as Californians spend more time sheltering at home. Even with fewer drivers on the road, accidents can still happen. We’ve shared tips on what to do if you find yourself in a motorcycle accident.

 Seek Medical Care if Needed

First and foremost, take care of your physical state. If you are injured, seek proper medical treatment and ensure everyone at the accident site isn’t hurt. Many people involved in crashes decline medical attention due to financial reasons, but if you aren’t at fault for the accident, an injury lawyer may be able to recover some or all of your medical care costs. Not all injuries are obvious, like whiplash or back and neck issues, so it’s in your best interest to seek medical treatment if you feel you need it.

Write Everything Down and File a Report

Once you determine everyone at the accident is safe, make sure you take photos and write everything down. Include where the accident took place, day and time, as well as the names and contact information from the other party. Information such as the license plate, driver’s license details and insurance information are all important. You should also make sure to contact the local police to file an official report for your records.
